About

John King, cofounder of Ardent Records, donated his entire music collection to the city of Memphis. The Memphis Listening Lab is a library of music, both vinyl and cds, from the 1950s through the 1980s.

As incredible as the collection is, the real treasure here is the impassioned, knowledgable staff, all are happy to guide you towards their personal favorites. Record players with headphones are set up around the premises to allow visitors to listen to the warm, analogue sounds of a bygone era.
