About

The first thing visitors see when approaching this art gallery is the gorgeous country setting with stunning gardens and trees. The building itself, renovated from an abandoned furniture factory, is an architectural wonder. Inside the gallery is a huge variety of folk art, not just regional to the local area, but folk art from across Mexico. Each piece is a breathtaking visual treat.

The owner, Mayer Shacter, is passionate about supporting talented artists and their families and preserving the rich folk art traditions from across the region that are deeply rooted in pre-Hispanic history. Photographs of the artists are presented with each piece. Schacter and his wife Susan travel all over Mexico to meet artists and purchase their work.

Visitors will get the opportunity to view ceramics, baskets, lacquer, copper, wood carvings, masks, colonial-era, and country antiques, textiles, vintage photographs, folk paintings, and jewelry including hard-to-find vintage pieces from Taxco. The gallery also represents world-famous contemporary ceramic artist Gustavo Pérez.
