About

The former B&O railroad passenger terminal is closed to the public. However, the large glass doors on the Main Street side of the building provide a good view of the interior. Railroad enthusiasts can take in the daily activities of the CSX railroad yard next door. The best spot to view this activity is to walk part way across the Barrett Street Bridge over Three Fork Creek. The trains pass directly under the bridge. Latrobe Street parallels the tracks entering the yard. A few downtown buildings have been razed, revealing 19th Century painted advertising on adjacent walls. One such wall has is adorned with a striking female image from the current day. Both buildings are owned by the Vandalia Foundation and are closed to the public at this time. The caboose is located on a public lot and can be viewed at any time.
